Untappd

While I always like real ale, finding the Untappd App encourages a wider search and experimentation.

The List is Long Today

Following couple of walks, I've got three (well 4) pubs to talk about today.

First the Royal Exchange on Cornmarket. It's Ok, but not a posh place at all. Busy even on a Monday lunchtime.
Two hand pumps on the bar but neither working. The Smoothflow was cheap at 95p for a half of gas pumped but otherwise not a lot to recommend it.

6/10 because it was cheap.

Next door is another pub, closed at the moment, The Maltser. I will keep my eyes open and report if it re-opens.
Almost opposite on New Street is a totally different pub, The King Charles House.
Dating from the 1577 this timber framed lovely is a real ale oasis. The sign outside says that it was from or through this building that King Charles II escaped after the battle of Worcester in 1651. There were 10 real ales on tap, all from the Craddocks brewery, some different from last time. They also do great pies, have weekly quizzes and the upstairs room hosts the local board games club. Very little wrong with this place ! 10/10 !!

Finally, just up the road from where we are is the Brewers Arms.
It's small, cosy, child and dog friendly and big on sports. There were two real ales on display with a third pending. Overall, nice little local, I'll be back again. 8/10
